Early Detours
At just 23, Farhan Indra Dwi Putra is already charting his professional course as a Tax Associate at Shipper Group, following early stints as a tax consultant intern and a Tax Staff member at Puninar Logistics. Yet, his journey has been anything but conventional.
Born to a nurse mother, Farhan once imagined himself donning a white coat and pursuing a career in medicine. He secured a place in a dentistry program in Malaysia, later succeeded in entering the Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Indonesia, and even attempted to balance a double life: medical studies on one side, taxation at Universitas Brawijaya on the other. But what began as a pursuit to fulfill expectations evolved into a turning point. With clarity and courage, he made a defining choice: to embrace taxation fully.
Redefining Passion
For Farhan, taxation is not a sterile world of numbers. It is an arena shaped by shifting regulations, complex casework, and the often-clashing realities of accounting and tax law. Coming from a science background, he had to adapt at remarkable speed. Long nights and looming deadlines became part of his rhythm. Yet, he found gratitude in the challenge.
“Not everyone gets to be in this position,” he says with quiet conviction, a testament to the belief that perseverance, not perfection, ensures survival.
The Discipline of Balance
Farhan believes that a true Tax Specialist is defined by three pillars: integrity, technical expertise, and strategic foresight. These values guide his approach, sharpened by community learning, professional networking, and the relentless practice of learning by doing.
But he is also part of a generation that values balance as much as ambition. After late nights at the office, he makes space for rest. Free hours are reserved for sports and leisure, rituals he considers essential to staying healthy, productive, and mentally grounded, especially during the industry’s “crucial days”: the 30th and 31st of each month.
A Redirection, Not a Failure
Farhan’s story is proof that failure is not an ending but a redirection. What once felt like a closed door in medicine became an open gateway to a career where he thrives. By choosing integrity, resilience, and the courage to take a less-traveled path, he uncovered his true calling.
Perhaps, like Farhan, your passion also waits patiently, not on the road you planned, but on the one you never thought to take.
