Yogyakarta, May 31, 2025 — In a world increasingly shaped by algorithms and automation, the sanctity of artistic expression is being put to the test. Set against the backdrop of the Gelanggang Inovasi & Kreativitas at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Mebiso presented AIRoNI: AI vs Kreator Seni, a timely and charged forum questioning a crucial dilemma of our age: Can artistic works still be protected in the age of AI?
With design thinkers, legal scholars, and creative directors gracing the stage, the half-day forum was anything but a theoretical debate. It was a vivid, necessary encounter between tradition and transformation—where law meets imagination, and art meets artificial intelligence.
Moderated by Hesti Rosa, the dynamic CEO of Mebiso, the session opened with a bold declaration: “In the age of AI, speed is not the only currency—protection is.” Rosa also unveiled Mebiso’s newest innovation: Image Protection, a smart feature designed to detect visual similarities between brand logos and visual identities—paving the way for early-stage detection of potential trademark infringements.
Among the panelists was Prof. Dr. Budi Agus Riswandi, Dean of Law at Universitas Islam Indonesia, who eloquently deconstructed the concept of “dual protection”—a hybrid strategy that marries intellectual property law with digital forensic tools to safeguard creative output in an increasingly synthetic world.
Aryo Pamungkas, Chairman of ADGI Jogja, spoke on behalf of a generation of graphic designers grappling with the invisible threat of AI-generated aesthetics. His message was clear: originality can no longer stand alone—it needs structural defense.
Meanwhile, Haqqi Hasan, Head of Creative at DAGADU, brought forth the voice of a brand that has weathered the waves of copycats and cultural commodification. His insights served as a potent reminder that creativity anchored in cultural relevance remains irreplaceable—even in the age of code and computation.
The forum not only posed pressing questions—Is AI an artistic adversary or an amplifier? Where does inspiration end and imitation begin?—but also ignited a deeper conversation about ethics, authorship, and the future of human creativity.
As the session drew to a close, one thing was clear: the battle between AI and the artist is not about resistance, but resilience. And perhaps, as this gathering in Yogyakarta has shown, the most powerful tool in an artist’s arsenal today isn’t just talent—it’s protection.
